The AITSL (Australian Institute for teaching and school leadership) teaching standards are in place to ensure that teachers are continuously learning and improving their practice. The standards detail exactly what high quality teaching looks like.The AITSL website contains illustrations of effective practice (link at the bottom of the page). There are 4 differing levels (depending on your experience). These include Graduate, Proficient, Highly Accomplished and Lead. I will be aiming to meet the graduate standards but am required to meet the Proficient level within my first few years of teaching.
There are 3 domains and 7 standards which fit under those domains. The 3 domains are: Professional Knowledge Professional Practice Professional Engagement (as shown in the flowchart above).
